If an older child sits in front of it and slides back to get into the seat, the buckle will slide down under the weight of the child. When my son was old enough to hop into his seat on his own, he quickly learned to not sit on the front of his seat and slide back, but instead, lifted himself over the buckle before sitting in his seat, which worked perfectly." -Robyn
