Our Story

 Strapsaway founders. Mother and daughter.

The moment I placed my oldest son into his car seat for the very first time, the concept of StrapsAway was born.

I was anxiously getting ready to leave the hospital to bring him home, so I went to place my precious new little man into his seat. As I went to set him in, however, I noticed that the straps and buckles for the seat were right where I needed to put him.

Not wanting to lay my delicate newborn on top of the mess of straps and metal, I took him in one arm and with the other hand I tried moving them out of the way, only to have them repeatedly fall right back into the seat. No matter how I tried, they fell back every time. Frustrated, I thought to myself, “There must be something out there that would keep these straps out of the way!”

Fast forward four years, and I was getting ready to leave my parents’ house with my three little boys: a four year-old, a two year-old, and a 3 month-old who was fast asleep in my arms. After years of experience with buckling children, (including toddlers who tried all manner of acrobatics and planking while I dug for and untwisted a mess of straps and metal), I was still dreading the moment when I would ever so carefully lay my new baby down on the tangle and he would inevitably wake up crying as I tried to get the straps from underneath him.

I looked at my mom and said, “If I had the time, I would make something to keep these straps out of the way. They’re so frustrating!”

Now, my mom is incredible. She raised 9 children of her own (yes, she’s that amazing). She remembered having the same frustration and, like me, couldn’t believe that there wasn’t a solution for it.

So, that very evening she was at my door with the first ever prototype for StrapsAway. That same evening, we sat together on my kitchen floor with car seats and household items for inspiration, brainstorming how we could make it as simple, stylish, and functional as possible.

Now, after many more late night collaborations, and with the help of so many of our talented family and friends, we are excited to share our magnetic car seat strap holders with you. They will make buckling your babies (and toddlers!) a breeze!!!
